Review: Greetings again from the darkness. Fifty years of studies and research has given rise to an endless number of theories about what happened, how it happened and why it happened that tragic day in 1963. President John F Kennedy and his beautiful wife Jacqueline has captured the hearts of many Americans, and on the way to Fort Worth and then Dallas, streets filled with passionate people who just want to catch a glimpse ... Camelot hoping some of the magic will rub off. Conversely, a city and state, go spinning out of feelings of anger and destruction. Instead of showing us what we already know, this is a look at some of the affected individuals in ways you may not have previously thought about.Vincent Bugliosi made a name for himself as a prosecutor in murder case of Charles Manson Family, and then write the corresponding book Helter Skelter (later made into a movie). The film is based on the book Bugliosis four days in November: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The we follow the main story is that Abraham Zapruder (Paul Giamatti), Lee Harvey Oswald's brother Robert (James Badge Dale), their mother Margueritte (Jacki Weaver), one Secret Service agent Forrest Sorrels (Billy Bob Thornton), a local FBI agent James Hosty (Ron Livingston), and emergency room doctors and nurses who treated JFK and Oswald (Zac Efron, Colin Hanks, Marcia Gay Harden) . You may think thats too much story for a film, and you may be right. However, it is interesting to see the frenetic pace and direct impact on how they are affected. Of course we want more details and backstory, but thats not approach this film takes. It just gives a sense of gut-wrenching decision of Mr. Zapruder had to do while grieving loved ones the president and shock Oswald's brother as a hit reality, delusions of Oswald's mother's stomach churned, absolute frustration CIA and FBI agents know their historical mistakes of their heritage, and different emotions that entry into the operating room with Kennedy and Oswald. The film takes no position on the knoll, CIA involvement, involvement of LBJ, or the number of shooters. This is not a story or solve crime conspiracy theory research. No, this is a look at real people in extraordinary situations that no amount of preparation can be soothing. There are so many small details revealed ... one of the most intense at the funeral of Lee Harvey Oswald, and the other as JFK coffin loaded onto Air Force One just before the LBJ taking the oath. So many little things you may never considered. If you are still alive at the time of the murder, you understand the impact. If you've read any of the books written about the pile of the day, you understand what is happening and messy investigation that followed. Bugliosi and director Peter Landesman effective mix of news reels of the day with a dramatization of the fall, and the actors do a wonderful job of showing how personal this affects people at that time. Another perspective brings with it an interesting discussion ... and thanks if your mom does not like Oswald! |
