Review: Review: The Sixth Sense Director: M. ShyamalamAs night film that no doubt caught the attention of the world movie goes, it was impossible to avoid the hype and publicity around. Luckily most people I had said that they had seen the movie did not spoil the twist at the end, which, although it is another step problems away in the comments, certainly contributes Oh, I see now legendary factor.The revolves around a child psychologist played by Bruce Willis in size. I say usually, because although their interpretation is very real and sometimes poignant, there always seems to be unnerving Die Hard-ness of his speech, lending some comic dialogue characteristics. That said, their efforts generally reveal the vulnerable and anxious psyche of his character to achieve good results. As a psychologist, he is plagued by a special event in his professional life he perceives as his personal failure, and preparing to redeem himself for failing to correct the error and cleaning his consciousness. This opportunity presents itself to him in the form of Cole Sear, played devastatingly well and Hayley Joel Osment. Cole has a problem, she sees dead people. Abroad, he is regarded as the lone problem child, and became increasingly isolated. Thus, there is need for a child psychologist. Soon after we were introduced to these two central players, we are taken on a journey of discovery, as these two characters in the film learn a lot from each other, themselves and the human nature.It this point is specific, I find that The film tries to deal with power - human communication. When this is over, the inevitable cycle of destructive interpersonal leads usually, sometimes irreversible. This fits in the context of Ghosts story superbly told. pure truth and honesty which the concept of fear is expressed by all participants, is breathtaking. Coles Experience Walking Dead, appearing out of nowhere, fear of deteriorating marriage to Malcolm, and mother fears for his own existential angst Coles. All this is played against the backdrop of a relationship is always difficult, but eventually heat between Cole and Malcolm. Finally, and against all odds, each character displays courage and bravery, facing each other and their existence is fears.There odd one or two niggling problems plot wise, but in a movie where the atmosphere created is one that is including death, fear and ultimately hope, it's hard not overlook inconsistencies. Superb direction, acting and circumstances cause me to think that M. Night Shyamalan actually managed eerily moving story about the triumph of human spirit.February 14, 2000 Harshad C. Keval |
