Review: We know that Jim Jarmusch film about vampires will not be like any other vampire movie. In fact it would be likely to damage the grade it as a vampire movie. Only Lovers Left Alive is a very stylish and atmospheric film laments the death of the great rock n roll and the hippie era. Here we have a couple vampire (Swinton & Hiddleston - both excellent and perfectly cast) living a life of isolated in an abandoned house in Detroit, United States. Hiddleston used to be a famous artist rock n roll which became lonely collect guitars and old data. They survive by buying blood samples from a corrupt doctor. We also have one of their friends older vampire (John Hurt) live in Tangiers, where blood is especially clean. Things take an unexpected turn when Swintons mischievous sister (Mia Wasikowska) to visit them. Only Lovers Left Alive wrote the cult movie. Music is very large and perfectly mixes with the atmosphere. Essential for fans of Jarmusch and recommended to others as well! |
